Nine Lanterns: an introduction

History

Nine Lanterns was formed in the first months of 2001 by Steve Grocott, Jason McDonald and Micheal Hall, pooling the collective talents from two independent and successful businesses, in recognition that learning and technology would be a dominant business combination in the 21st century.

So, Nine Lanterns was born... running... with its first two clients in the Commonwealth and Victorian departments of education and training. Our early successes helped refine our approach to elearning, and we quickly found our niche: applying contemporary learning theory and innovative design (what our competitors increasingly refer to as 'scenario based'), together with a highly visual approach, to produce eLearning that works - for education, corporate and government clients.

Our company has grown between 30% and 40% a year since it started, more recently embracing a large increase in the number of clients from the corporate world. Our clients often come to us looking for a particular type of eLearning solution which we turn into a reality - but not before we work with the client to confirm this is a best fit solution. If we don't help the client to grow, and we don't grow with our clients, we are not doing our job properly.

Nine Lanterns' innovations in design and development have cemented its position as a national leader in the eLearning and knowledge management industries. We have an informed understanding of 'what really works', and a holistic approach to learning at individual, group and organisational levels.

We have developed large amounts of diverse, highly engaging learning with corporate, education and government clients, all grounded in our theory-based learning models. This has led directly to the delivery of thousands of hours of learning materials, working in both synchronous and asynchronous online and blended learning environments.
